Quick LCD Setup Guide
This page is a quick guide to setting up CrystalControl2 after first installation (see here). |
Simply follow the steps below. |
After CrystalControl2 has been installed, Windows has been restarted (see Installation) and you've logged in, you will see a new icon in the Windows task-bar. This icon looks like blue colored Crystalfontz logo, as pointed to by the arrow in the image below.
If the icon does not appear, or is red colored, please see here. |
Right-click and select "Configure...".
The screen below will now be displayed. |
To setup your first LCD module, click on the "Add New" button in the "LCD Module Selection" box. The following selection screen will be shown. |
Select your LCD type in the "Available Types" list, and click the "Add" button.
For example, select the "Crystalfontz 634" module. |
You will now be asked to set the hardware options for your LCD module. For the 631/632/633/634 LCD modules, you will be shown a screen like that below. |
From the "Communications Port" list, select the port your LCD is installed on. USB LCD modules will also be in this list. |
The default communications speed for the 632,633,634 modules is 19200. For the 631 & 635 it is 115200. |
You will now be returned to the main configuration screen, with the new LCD module now in the modules list. |
If you will be using multiple LCD modules, you might like to rename the module from the default to something else.
To do this, select the "Module Setup" tab, and type the new name in the "Module Name" box. |
Now is also a good time to change the LCD brightness and contrast settings.
To being with, set the brightness to 100%.
For the 634/632 modules set the contrast to 72%, and for the 631/633 modules set it to 40%. |
The next step is to insert the first screen (information to be display on the LCD). |
To do this, first click the "Add New" button in the "Screen Selection" section.
You will then be shown the screen editor window as shown below.
Click the "Load Screen" button.
Select the screen you wish to load, then click the "Open" button. |
You will then be returned to the screen editor window showing the loaded screen.
Click the "OK" button. |
You will now have the new screen in the "Screen Selection" list. |
If you like, you can change the name of this screen by selecting the "Screen Setup" tab, and typing the new name in the "Screen Name" box. |
CrystalControl2 is now setup to display the "CPU Usage Bargraph" screen on your LCD module. |
The changes you have made in the configuration program will not come into effect until CrystalControl2 is restarted.
To do this, click the "Restart CrystalControl2" button as below. |
The restarting process of CrystalControl2 may take a little while.
You can follow the progress by watching the status shown in the title-bar. |
The status will change from "running" to "stopping" to "starting" then back to "running".
Once it has done this, your LCD module should be lit up, displaying a screen with the current CPU usage in percent, and also a moving bargraph. |
That's really all there is to it... |
Tweak the brightness and contrast settings to your liking, and insert as many screens as you wish. |
